Mystery communications firm Strategic Planning and Communications Opportunity

A medium-sized full-service communications firm based in Washington, DC, is looking for a smart, creative and energetic individual to add to our team. Depending on experience, this opportunity is for a Senior Account Executive, Account Supervisor, or Account Director role.

The successful candidate will conduct long-range strategic communication planning and message development for a high-profile client at the Pentagon. Experience with defense and government a plus but not mandatory. The ability to learn and adapt quickly, think critically and communicate effectively is essential. Strong writing skills and problem-solving ability also required. SECRET security clearance strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities
Support day-to-day activities of client campaigns, including but not limited to:
• developing strategic communications plans and messaging with clients and stakeholders
• integrating communications efforts across various directorates
• monitoring implementation of communications plans
• analyzing media clips
• developing informative briefs for client leadership.

Desired Skills & Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a proactive, self-starting problem solver with strong organizational skills who excels at working with a team as well as individually. Candidates should be intellectually curious, flexible, and adaptable. Applicants should also have:
• Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, including but not limited to: developing public affairs and/or communication plans based on research and analysis, identifying key audiences, designing and overseeing implementation of tactics, and producing briefings for leadership.
• Very strong research, writing, and editing skills.
• Ability to translate broad concepts into strategic messaging and talking points.
• Understanding of and experience with public affairs, public relations, government relations, marketing and branding.
• 5-10 years of relevant experience in communication, as well as a bachelor’s degree.
• A SECRET clearance or - at a minimum - the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
