DC Dept. of Transportation - Social Media Intern

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is seeking an Intern to support the agency’s Public Information Division. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, creative and have a keen sense of how to tell a good story.

Expectations for intern:
• Create engaging content for social media, and DDOT’s internal and external websites
• Draft written materials including press releases, memos, media pitches, website content, and other materials, as required
• Analyze social media, website, and other data to inform strategies to advance the division’s outreach and engagement efforts
• Support the agency’s graphic designer and videographer, as required
• Provide administrative and event support, as necessary

Required Skills
• Experience using content management systems, specifically Drupal
• Experience using the Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office 365
• Understanding of social media including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Nextdoor

Other Information
• The internship term is September 2019 – January 31, 2020, with the potential to extend through the Spring
• The intern should be available to work between 20 and 30 hours per week, between 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
• The internship is unpaid. Applicants should be enrolled in college and able to receive college credits, pending the university’s approval
