John Adams Associates, a full-service public affairs firm with nearly 40 years of experience in Washington, is seeking a highly motivated summer intern to lend support to the organization while gaining experience in media and government relations.
Strategically located in the National Press Building, home to much of the Washington-based national and international press, John Adams Associates provides communications consulting and issues management services to a broad range of clients, including trade associations, nonprofit organizations and Fortune 500 corporations, focusing on a broad range of issues, including energy, environmental health, food policy and education reform.
The ideal intern candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, an eagerness to learn, initiative, and a lively interest in public policy. Junior and senior level college students and recent college graduates should be working towards or have maintained a degree in public relations, communications, public policy, political science, journalism and/or have direct experience in a related field.
Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Strategic research
· Media monitoring and pitching
· Development of press materials
· Social media development
· Legislation/regulatory tracking
· Assisting with planning and execution of special events
· Attending press events and preparing briefing materials
Interns are paid a stipend of $75/day and are able to take advantage of our location in the National Press Building with our internship membership to the National Press Club, featuring press conferences, luncheons, special events and keynote speeches from national and world leaders.
