Interfaith Alliance - Policy & Legislation Advisor
Interfaith Alliance, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to protecting faith and freedom, is seeking a Policy and Legislation Advisor to be a partner in our mission to champion true religious freedom under the First Amendment. We do so by respecting individual rights, promoting policies that protect both religion and democracy and uniting diverse voices to challenge extremism and build common ground.
This is a full-time position that includes salary and health insurance, as well as paid leave as earned and opportunity for advancement, retroactive following a 90-day introductory tenure.
We are a small office in a mutually supportive working environment. Our new team member will have a daily opportunity to participate in conversations that shape Interfaith Alliance’s program and its responses to current situations in religion and politics.
We are an equal opportunity employer. Applicants need not profess a faith but must be willing to work on behalf of the issues we support, including combatting religious discrimination, LGBTQ rights, separation of religion and government and other First Amendment issues.
Responsibilities in Policy and Legislation will include:
--Tracking legislative initiatives on Capitol Hill and states relating to religious freedom
--Developing and maintaining relationships with legislators, policymakers and staff on Capitol Hill and in the Executive Branch and its federal agencies.
--Analyzing legislative and policy proposals, as well as amicus briefs, and recommending positions for Interfaith Alliance
--Representing Interfaith Alliance in organizational coalitions and working groups
--Drafting materials for earned media, donors, local Alliances, board members, social media and the organization’s president in collaboration with our communications consultants
--Seeking and securing opportunities for Interfaith Alliance to testify at Congressional hearings
--Participating in organizing and presenting public forums and briefings
-Working with other staff to develop long-term and short-term goals for Interfaith Alliance
--Briefing Interfaith Alliance leaders, donors and prospective supporters on policy and legislation.
Applicant should possess experience in the legislative and policymaking processes, college education or equivalent, and strong and accurate analytical and writing skills. Preference will be given to those with Capitol Hill experience and/or experience in a policy position in government or political campaigns. Ability to interface with word processing and publishing, social media and donor databases is necessary. Willingness to travel at the organization’s expense is necessary.
Send resume & cover letter to jobs@interfaithalliance.org to apply.
